Matting Policy

At Wiggles & Whiskers, your dog’s comfort and safety are my top priorities. Matted coats can cause skin irritation, discomfort, and other health issues. Removing mats also takes extra time, care, and puts additional wear on grooming equipment. Because of this, a matting fee may apply based on the severity:

Light Matting – No Charge

Small areas of mild tangling, such as behind the ears, under the collar, or in the armpits. These are quick to manage and do not significantly extend grooming time.

Moderate Matting – $10–$15

A few larger mats on the body that are not tightly attached to the skin. These require extra time and careful handling to remove safely.

Severe Matting – $25–$40+

Mats that are tight to the skin, widespread across the body, or require a very close shave to remove. This level of matting significantly increases grooming time and carries a higher risk of skin irritation and injury.

I will always discuss the best option for your dog at drop-off, and no additional charges will be added without your approval. My goal is to make every grooming experience as safe and comfortable as possible — for your dog, for myself, and for my equipment.
